Orcs of Orakion Worldbuilding
Written by Embugaming (Leon)
There is perhaps no story in recent memory as tragic as that of the Orcs of Orakion, a thriving civilization whose growth was cut short by terrible forces well outside their control. Maybe you’ve seen some of them, arriving in small flocks of destitute survivors at human and dwarven cities, or maybe you’ve seen their more tragic side, in the shape of starved bodies by the roadway. Be that how it may, it’s impossible to ignore that something has disturbed the peace in the ancient lands of Orakion.

Don Harpell grew up in rural Nova Scotia, Canada. His mom nurtured the artistic love of drawing and writing. Don has spent many years as a business consultant and through these years has written for smalltown newspapers and expressed himself by writing poems, short stories and music shared with friends and family.
Don's newest release, "I Woke Up Without and Ed", deals with the loss of someone loved and told through the eyes of a young boy. Written as a tribute to his eldest brother who passed away from illness too soon, it opens the door to discussing the loss.
I Woke Up Without An Ed
Written by Don Harpell
This book is for anyone who has experienced loss. The story considers children and families as the story is told through the eyes of a young boy.
It is known that children experience loss every year, so much so that in the USA there is Symposium on Children's Grief annually hosted by the National Alliance for Children’s Grief. The pandemic punctuated this with so many lost loved ones and an estimated 140,000 children in the USA alone having lost a parent or primary caregiver.
Don Harpell wrote "I Woke Up Without an Ed" to address death, loss, bereavement and grief in a sensitive way, making this book valuable in helping children navigate from a difficult path of loss. It can be an aide for families, librarians, teachers and educators, counselors and others.
Dave Dodson has brought depth, warmth and feeling in the illustrations to draw the reader into the journey that the young boy takes.
Wishing the best for all, we hope our book will encourage conversations to open up a pathway to being okay.
